About Kaitlyn

Growth happens
in safe spaces

Whether your child is struggling with school stress, navigating friendships, managing big emotions, or working through a difficult transition, I offer a warm and non-judgmental space where they can feel truly seen.

I also work closely with parents — because the whole family is part of the journey. You don't have to figure this out alone.

Who I Work With

You don't have to figure it out alone

01

Ages 6–12

Children

School anxiety, social challenges, emotional regulation, friendship struggles, and building confidence — through conversation, play, and creativity in a space that feels safe.

02

Ages 13–18

Adolescents

Teen anxiety, identity, academic pressure, social media stress, self-esteem, and the complexity of adolescence — in a space that's entirely theirs, free from judgment.

03

Parents & Families

Families

Parenting a struggling child is hard. I work with parents to understand what their child needs, strengthen family communication, and find more connection — even when things feel tense.

"The goal isn't a perfect child — it's a child who knows they are loved, capable, and worthy of support when things get hard."
— Kaitlyn Cunningham, LCSW
My Approach

Rooted in warmth,
guided by you

No two children — and no two families — are the same. My approach is collaborative, strengths-based, and always tailored to the person in front of me.

Strengths-Based Therapy

We begin with what's already working — your child's resilience, curiosity, and capacity for growth.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

Practical tools to understand the connection between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors.

Mindfulness & Somatic Work

Teaching children and teens how to listen to their bodies and regulate their nervous systems.

Family Systems Lens

I hold the whole family in view and include parents as active partners in the healing process.

FAQ

Questions?
I've got you.

Don't hesitate to reach out directly if you don't see your question here.

How do I know if my child needs therapy?+
If you've noticed changes in your child's mood, sleep, school performance, or social behavior — or if they've been expressing worry, sadness, or anger more than usual — it's worth a conversation. You don't have to wait for a crisis.
My teen doesn't want to come. What do I do?+
Very common. Teens often resist because therapy feels like something being done to them. I work hard to earn their trust in the first sessions and let them set the tone. A low-pressure call for you as a parent is often a great first step.
Do you involve parents in children's sessions?+
Yes — thoughtfully. For younger children, parents are more involved. For teens, I protect their confidentiality while building a real partnership with parents. We'll talk through what this looks like for your family.
Do you offer telehealth?+
Yes. I offer telehealth for clients in Connecticut and North Carolina. Teens especially often feel more comfortable in their own space. In-person sessions are available at my Guilford, CT office.
How long does therapy usually take?+
Some families find meaningful relief in 8–12 sessions. Others continue for a year or more. We'll check in regularly and adjust together as things change.
